About this site

Hi, I’m Hugo.

I’m a product-oriented software engineer with 15+ years of experience across web, cloud, and DevOps.
Currently a Product Engineer at Placeloop. Open to work. Remote only.

I like shipping things that survive contact with reality.
Fast prototypes are easy. Maintainable products are not.

What I do

I work from problem → prototype → product, with an emphasis on execution and trade-offs.

  • Turn vague ideas into concrete, scoped solutions
  • Build end-to-end features (TypeScript / Python) and ship them to production
  • Design LLM-powered features that go beyond demos (UX, cost, reliability)
  • Build data & search systems that people can actually use
  • Care about CI/CD, observability, and cost-aware infrastructure

I prefer boring tech that works over clever tech that breaks at scale.

Tools (when they make sense)

  • Languages: TypeScript, Python, Bash
  • Frontend: SSR, React, Angular, Native
  • Backend: Node, Nest, Django, Flask
  • Data: Postgres, Elasticsearch, Kafka, MongoDB
  • Delivery: Docker, CI/CD
  • Infra: Dedicated servers, Proxmox, AWS
  • AI: Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT

This site

This is my scratchpad.

I use it to share notes, links, experiments, tools, and opinions about building software—especially in an era where AI accelerates development but doesn’t eliminate the need for experience, judgment, and maintenance.

If you’re into pragmatic engineering, shipping real systems, and honest trade-offs, you’ll probably like it here.
